Department "Fundamental and Branch Legal Sciences"

The establishment of the Department of Fundamental and Branch Legal Sciences (FBLS) dates back to December 15, 1997 – the establishment of the Faculty of Law, Humanities and Social Sciences, the time of the creation of the Department of Legal Studies. In 1998, the first recruitment of law students took place. The department of branch legal sciences was established on the basis of the order of the rector of KrNU dated November 1, 2013, after merging with the department of theory and history of the state and law, the name was changed to the current one. At the current stage, the department is headed by Doctor of Legal Sciences, Professor Skrypnyk Volodymyr Leonidovych. The department has been a graduation for specialists with the educational degree «Bachelor of Law» since October 2003 and «Master of Law» since 2015, and also participates in the preparation of bachelor's and master's degrees at other faculties of the university, provides teaching of legal disciplines. Over the past 10 years, the lecturers of the FBLS, together with the students, took an active part in the All-Ukrainian contests of student scientific works, in particular in the following fields of law: Transport (Kremenchuk Mykhailo Ostrohradskyi National University), where three victories were won; Criminal (University of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine) – two victories; Administrative (Zaporizhzhya National University) – three victories; Service (Zaporizhzhya National University) – one victory. In total, over the last decade, the teaching staff together with the students prepared and sent to the II round of the All-Ukrainian contests of student works more than seventy works and published more than a hundred theses of reports in various sections of law and legal reality, which concern not only Ukrainian but also international activities. Traditionally, the department's lecturers and students take part in 2 conferences: the International Scientific and Practical Conference «Theoretical and Practical Problems of the Implementation of Law Norms», which is held at KrNU by the FBLS with the involvement of students and lecturers of other higher education institutions, including foreign ones, as well as at the All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference «Actual Problems of National Legislation», held in Kropyvnytskyi. In accordance with educational program «Law», bachelor's and master's degree holders in the 4th and 6th year undergo industrial practice in legal entities of public and private law, on the basis of legal services of local self-government bodies. Some students show a desire to practice in legal services at enterprises, institutions, organizations of various forms of ownership, as well as at notaries and lawyers. The department has 5 classrooms that have been updated and equipped with appropriate equipment over the past ten years, as follows: auditorium 1301 is used mainly for lectures, equipped with multimedia equipment used for classes (screen and projector); auditorium 1316 is a methodical office equipped with the necessary legal literature, educational and methodical literature, 1 computer (with Internet access) and a printer, which the applicant can use when preparing for practical classes, writing term papers, as well as multimedia equipment that used for classes (screen and projector); auditorium 1317 is the department of fundamental and branch legal sciences, where the teaching staff's workplaces are located; auditorium 1318 for lectures and seminars, equipped with multimedia equipment (TV, screen and projector, video surveillance cameras); 1320 for conducting practical exercises. It not only updated the furniture, but also created a visualization of the courtroom; auditoriums 1405, 1406 are a forensic laboratory used for practical training. In the auditorium, there are stands with organized information, mock-ups of mines, knives, weapons, brass knuckles and other materials that can be used for visual exercises using the «criminologist's suitcase». The staff of the department meets the requirements established for conducting educational and scientific activities. As of 01.01.2022, the teaching staff of the FBLS is represented by 9 full-time lecturers and 7 part-time lecturers . Of them, Doctors of Science – 2, Professors – 1; PhDs – 10, Associate Professors – 5; without a scientific degree – 4. All lecturers of the department are working on the publication of textbooks, monographs, author's courses of their academic disciplines. Articles are published in various publications, including specialized publications of Ukraine, foreign journals, which are indexed in scientometric databases, such as: Index Copernicus, Scopus and Web of Science. The lecturers of the department take an active part in international scientific and educational internships, foreign symposia, attracting students of education under the educational program «Law» to also participate in this. For the past 5 years, lecturers and students have visited such countries as Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany, and Slovakia.
